JOE BRINSON SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Mt. Pleasant Business and Professional Association is proud to announce its scholarship program, named in memory of Mt. Pleasant resident, Joe Brinson. Throughout Joe's thirty-plus year career, he played a vital role in numerous educational organizations throughout the Carolinas, including the Construction Education Foundation. This scholarship program is intended to encourage and support students aspiring to a career in business. Applications for these awards are requested in accordance with the information below.
The scholarship awards are $2,000* for first place, and then two $1000* awards the runners-up. They will be paid directly to the college or school upon confirmation
of applicant's acceptance or enrollment. The application form may be duplicated.
The complete application package (detailed on the application form) is to be received no later than April 30, 2012.

A committee of three or more Association members will review documents and decide winners. Recipients will be notified of their selection by May 14th, 2012 and will be recognized at the next Association meeting to be held on May 17, 2012.
Requirements:
1. Applicant must be a high school student residing in the East Cooper area (Awendaw, Isle of Palms, Mt. Pleasant, Sullivan's Island, etc., ZIP Codes).
2. Applicant must be accepted or enrolled in a college or post-secondary institution at the time the scholarship is paid.
3. Applicant must get three (3) letters of recommendation, one from a teacher and the other two from members of the community.
Criteria:
1. Cumulative grade point average.
2. Involvement in extracurricular activities.
3. Involvement in community activities.
4. Work experience.
5. Financial need
6. Other considerations noted in applicant's letter.
*Awards are subject to Association funds on hand and may fluctuate.
